Step 5 “Imagination,” Do You Believe In Ghosts?
Do You Believe in Ghosts, or what some people would call “Orbs?”
One of these curious “balls of light” showed up in a photograph of me not long ago and really peaked my imagination.
We all love a good mystery don’t we? 
( It’s a bit off topic but do let me know what you think these orbs might be in your comments below, and if you have any “Orb” or ghost photos of your own share those too! My latest thinking is that “ghosts” are a phenomenon of “uncontrolled imagination.” What do you think? )
Ok, back to the task at hand of understanding this
5th of 13 steps to Be All You Can Be, Imagination.
Remember we began with Step 1 DESIRE which can be transmuted into MONEY when you have MASTERED, ASSIMILATED and BEGUN TO MAKE USE of all 13 success principles being explained and tied together.
So I’ve been doing some deep thinking about things lately, especially how powerful our imagination really is.
Albert Einstein said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”
Walt Disney was reported to have said about Disney World just before he died, ”If I had not seen it you would never be able to experience it.”
Napoleon Hill in Think and Grow Rich calls Imagination…
“The Workshop of the Mind” and considers it the fifth step to Riches.
He also said that the impulse, the DESIRE (let’s also add the word IDEA), is given shape, form and ACTION through the aid of the imaginative faculty of the mind.
Napoleon also believed our own brains are both a broadcasting and a receiving station for the “VIBRATION OF THOUGHT.”
“Our only limitation lies in our development and use of our imagination,” he said.
In his opinion there are Two Forms of Imagination:
1. Synthetic Imagination – being the arranging old concepts, ideas, or plans into new combinations. Where nothing “New” is created. It is synthetic imagination that is used most by the inventor, with the exception of the Genius, who draws upon the next form of imagination when unable to solve a problem through simple rearranging of the known.
2. Creative Imagination – is really interesting! This is the realm of “hunches” and “inspirations” where the finite human mind has direct communication with Infinite Intelligence. It’s here where basic and new ideas are handed over to us. It is through this faculty of the mind that “thought vibrations” or “influences” from the minds of others are received. It is through this application of imagination that one individual may “tune in” or communicate with the subconscious minds of others ( see step 3 Autosuggestion here ), is that cool or what!
You may remember from Step 4 Specialized Knowledge that Imagination is the catalyst that unites a good idea with the specialized knowledge required to translate it into SUCCESS.
You can put IMAGINATION “to work” for instance building a Plan or Plans to transform DESIRE/IDEAS into money.
When you reduce a PLAN to WRITING you will have definitely given concrete FORM to your initially intangible DESIRE/IDEAS.
This begins the process of converting THOUGHT into its physical counterpart because DESIRE/IDEAS are thought impulse!
Truly thoughts and IDEAS are things, and their scope of operations is the world itself.
IDEAS CAN BE TRANSMUTED INTO CASH THROUGH THE POWER OF DEFINITE PURPOSE, PLUS DEFINITE PLANS.
Are you someone who believes that riches will come by way of hard work and honesty alone?
Riches, when they come in Huge quantities, are never the result of HARD work! Riches come, if they come at all, in response to definite demands, based upon the application of definite principles, and not by chance or luck.
Generally speaking, an IDEA is an impulse of thought that impels action by an appeal to the imagination. All master sales people know that IDEAS can be sold where merchandise cannot. Ordinary salespeople don’t know this – that’s why they are ordinary.
For instance, many people buy titles (IDEAS) and not contents of books. It’s has happened more than once that a publisher (and even an internet marketer ) has merely changed the name of a book that was not moving, and sales suddenly jumped upwards of millions of copies being sold. The inside of the book was not changed in any way. The “old” cover that wasn’t selling was replaced with a new one with “box office” value.
As simple as this example may seem, it was an IDEA!
IMAGINATION at work.
There is no standard price on IDEAS. Creators of ideas make their own price and, if they are smart, get it.
The movie industry is another great example of this. It has created many millionaires, many of which couldn’t create ideas – BUT – they had the Imagination to recognize ideas when they saw them.
The Success of Andrew Carnegie, thought to be the worlds first billionaire, came because he surrounded himself with people who created ideas and people who put ideas into operation. Doing so made himself and others fabulously rich.
IDEAS are intangible forces, but they have more power than the physical brains that give birth to them.
Initially you give life and action and guidance to ideas, then they take on power of their own and such a power that is able to sweep aside all opposition.
Consider the power of Christianity, which began with a simple idea.
“Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.”
This Christ IDEA and many others in the realm of FAITH go marching on!
What is a deepest DESIRE that You have which You would like to be continued long after Your limited form of a body return its Content back to its Source?

Here is a peak into one of the many emails I receive and respond to in a day, possibly it will prompt you to taking greater ACTION as well…

Every once and a while an email like the above stands out from the rest, this one did that for me today and moved me enough to want to share it with you.
Here is the response it prompted me to offer “T.”:
“Hi T.,
Good to connect with you, thank you for sharing where you are at right now.
First off I have to give you credit…
You have the courage to be honest, the wisdom to reach out for assistance and most important of all the Faith to forgive what has been.
A day will come when you will look back at all that you have gone through my friend, and you’ll simply have overwhelming gratitude for all of it. Realizing that without it you would have never done what it motivated you to do today.
Here are 4 of the most important questions you should write down and keep your focus upon through the good times and the bad:
1. What’s My Purpose?
2. Where’s My Passion?
3. What am I naturally good at?
4. What has my past best prepared me for in the future?
I call this line of focus “Founder Thinking” (with much credit to Alex Jeffreys and Rich Schefren for my “getting it” )

Ever Notice that the Quality of Your Life is in Direct Relationship to the Quality of the Questions You are Asking Yourself?
Years ago, when I was a teenager feeling at the effect of my parent’s divorce I was severely challenged to be the cause of my own experience. At a time when life was asking me, “Who do you want to be when you grow up?” I couldn’t decide if life was even worth getting out of bed for.
You may have heard that there is a series of questions that a good news reporter will ask to get to the bottom of a story: Who, What, When, Where, Why and How? Well the story of my life back then, forced me to dig deep and answer the nagging question that became my reason for getting out of bed and facing another day of chaos,
“Who am I?”
Parents, friends, school nor religion came to my aid, I was pretty much alone in seeking the information I most needed. It took many years to understand that there really are two basic kinds of knowledge: one is general and the other specialized. Today I see these two as woven together in the process of Masterminding and Implementing, where Masterminding is a way of accessing the vast quantity and quality of knowledge and Implementing becomes the specialization of organizing and intelligently directing vast knowledge toward a specific chosen outcome. Yet again PURPOSE is everything, because without Purpose all the knowledge in the world is overwhelmingly useless, especially to a teenager questioning if life is even worth living.

What General and Specialized Knowledge Became a Reason to Continue Life’s Personal Experiences and Observations?
For many that I have met religion came to the rescue, helping to answer the deepest of life’s questions. For me it simply didn’t happen that way. Sure, I prayed to Jesus for help and did find some sense of relief but the knowledge I found most useful came in the form of books like Jonathan Livingston Seagull, by Richard Bach. Also, A Course in Miracles became a way of looking at the world and my place in it that made the most sense to me. When religion became more central in my life years later establishing my own definition of sin has blessed me with the greatest peace of all. For me I SIN if I allow myself to become who I am…because of the experience of others.
But I digress, I share all this only to highlight how powerful the questions that we ask ourselves become in being both the cause and the effect of what we experience. Furthermore how critical it is that especially when we think we know the answer already that we continue to ask good questions, because not all knowledge accumulated through experience is accurate.
What do I mean?
Success and Failure are largely the result of HABIT, and the way of Success is the way of CONTINUOUS PURSUIT OF KNOWLEDGE. Ultimately we get the answers to the questions we are asking. If we don’t like the answers our life is giving us, then it may be time to become more conscious of the quality of our questions. Remember, you have ABSOLUTE CONTROL over but one thing, that being your thoughts. Putting it all together, the answers we are getting are a result of the questions we are asking. What we are asking is a direct expression of our thoughts.
Napoleon Hill in Think and Grow Rich offers how to organize and use knowledge after it is acquired into definite plans of action (Implementation). He suggests that to be truly educated is to have so developed the faculties of the mind that one may acquire anything one wishes, or its equivalent, without violating the rights of others (in my words I would say by being a power-to-others rather than a power-over-them).
Accumulation of great fortune calls for POWER. Which can be acquired through highly organized and intelligently directed specialized knowledge. This is where a Mastermind group can help to bridge any weaknesses.
Mr. Hill also says that before you can be sure of your ability to transmute DESIRE into its monetary equivalent, you will require SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE of the service, merchandise, or profession which you intend to offer in return for fortune.

The “missing link” in all systems of education known to civilization today may be found in the failure of educational institutions to teach their students HOW TO ORGANIZE AND USE KNOWLEDGE AFTER THEY ACQUIRE IT. It could be said that IMPLEMENTATION OF KNOWLEDGE is the biggest problem in the world today. I mean really, does it still wash that we don’t know enough to create the life of our dreams, or is it more accurate and honest to simply admit that we really don’t want to put the effort into being the cause of all that we experience. It’s simply far more convenient to blame others for our problems…isn’t it?
If you do contemplate pursuing additional formal education, first determine the PURPOSE for which you want the knowledge you are seeking, and then learn where this particular knowledge can be obtained from reliable sources.
Successful people in all callings never stop acquiring specialized knowledge related to their major purpose, business, or profession.
Keep in mind as well that anything acquired without effort and without cost is generally unappreciated, and often discredited.
Anybody can WISH for riches, and most people do, but only a few know that a definite plan, plus a BURNING DESIRE (Step 1 DESIRE can be found HERE ), are the only dependable means of accumulating wealth.
IMAGINATION (Step 5 will introduce you to this Workshop of the Mind), it is the catalyst that unites a good idea with the specialized knowledge required to translate it into SUCCESS.

(Step 3) AUTOSUGGESTION
The Medium for Influencing the Subconscious Mind (see the Free resource for influencing your own subconscious mind while you work at your computer in the PPS. below)
Beautiful bird song and the flow of our upper-property lake water swiftly running to sea next to our home are the first sounds of the day I hear. It adds to the sensations I feel of my beloved’s breath upon the nape of my neck. We both awaken to the sunlight shining in the big bay windows reflecting like diamonds on the surface of the river. The seawater looking like glass reflects the calm of our own minds after a full night’s sleep. Held in each other’s arms it all just keeps getting better. Neither of us has ever experienced the feeling of cuddling like this before, not to mention all the other joys and miracles shared between us. An ease and effortlessness which makes it the most natural thing in the world for us to be together, we both thank God every day for the gift of knowing ourselves and sharing the adventure of getting to know each other. Extending our love as parents will be the next journey for us, but not quite yet.
I originally wrote the above late in 2005, it was titled Perfect Day with My Wife. I was then 40 years old. Determination burned within me to find the woman of my dreams, marry and create home and family together. But how would that ever happen? I had been single for so long I honestly wondered if my circumstances would ever change. Looking back upon my life at that time I was discouraged because my fate seemed to not be cooperating with my DESIRE. But I was resolved to not give up.
I hired some good relationship coaches and put every bit of my will and determination toward my chosen DESIRE to make myself ready to find and marry my Beloved. One of the exercises my coaches had me do was to write out A Perfect Day with My Wife. It’s funny because these random ideas had been in my mind for some time but until my coach gave me this writing project I had never gathered all the parts of my dream together and written it out as I shared with you above. Now 4 years later I’m happily married and living the life of my dreams. I didn’t see it then but today I can look back and credit how AUTOSUGGESTION was unconsciously at work in assisting me to be The Master of My Fate and the Captain of My Soul! It still is today.
Napoleon Hill offers insight into the workings of influencing the subconscious mind in his book Think and Grow Rich. He suggests that Autosuggestion is Self-Suggestion, communication between conscious thought and that which serves as the seat of Action. He suggests that the Subconscious Mind is a fertile garden and Autosuggestion feeds the subconscious mind on thoughts of a creative nature, which are then brought forth from this rich garden of mind.
Are you Consciously Aware of the seeds being planted in your rich garden of mind?
Is your garden full of weeds that are getting in the way of nurturing your most precious seeds of thought and inspiration?
Ever wonder why some seeds of things we think we really want never seem to sprout?
The subconscious mind recognizes and acts ONLY upon thoughts which have been well mixed with emotion and feeling…WELL EMOTIONALIZED with BELIEF. The seeds in your subconscious must be nurtured, your capacity to CONCENTRATE upon a given DESIRE until that desire becomes a BURNING OBSESSION is key. Like a seed in the soil requires warmth from the Sun, you must shine upon the seeds of thought that you have sown in your own subconscious mind. It also helps to remember that the price of ability to influence your subconscious mind is everlasting PERSISTENCE, most likely it will take more than just a few sunny days!
Deepok Chopra offers more insight when he suggests beliefs take us to a subtler level of the mind…What you believe is reinforced by what you experience, but what you experience also alters what you believe. (Step 4 SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE details the Power of personal experiences and observations, find this Be All You Can Be Step HERE).
Anyone who has wrestled with the question, Does he (or she) love me? Knows what it feels like to have tiny things like a glance or a casual word or an unreturned phone call confirm or destroy your belief in being loved.
But while Autosuggestion may be most easily understood in matters of the heart it still applies if your Definite Chief Aim involves money and the attainment of wealth.
In Think and Grow Rich Mr. Hill suggests that the dominating thoughts which one permits to remain in the conscious mind (whether these thoughts be negative or positive really doesn’t matter) will reach and influence the subconscious mind, through the Law of Autosuggestion. He proposes, and I agree, that we have ABSOLUTE CONTROL over the material that reaches our subconscious mind through the five senses. But this is not to say that individuals exercise this control, the great majority of people do not which explains why so many people go through life in poverty. It can take great effort of will to pull the weeds of poverty-thinking which can dominate our rich garden of mind.
When you pay attention to your thoughts, are they lifting you up or pulling you down?
Are you keeping in mind that the price of ability to influence your subconscious mind is everlasting PERSISTENCE?
Do you Mastermind and Implement all 13 steps to be the master of you fate and captain of your soul? (Step 9 The Power of the Mastermind will detail this Driving Force)
Especially in the accumulation of money autosuggestion depends upon the skill of CONCENTRATION. The ability to Concentrate upon a given DESIRE until that Desire becomes a BURNING OBSESSION.
CONCENTRATION, fixation of attention:
…ACTUALLY SEE physical appearance of the money. By you Believing it your Sub-Conscious mind will Believe it, That…
…I must have the amount of money I’m visualizing.
…That the money is already awaiting my claim.
…The Sub-Conscious mind MUST hand over practical Plans for acquiring the money which is mine.
…Give this thought to the IMAGINATION for the Transmutation of this Desire (Step 5 will explain in greater detail Imagination, the workshop of the mind).
Applying CONCENTRATION in this way will have you DEMANDING and EXPECTING PLANS (Step 6 will explain the Crystallization of Desire into Action) …when you are inspired with a Plan it must be put into ACTION IMMEDIATELY.
As part of visualizing (with eyes closed) the money you intend to accumulate SEE YOURSELF RENDERING THE SERVICE AND DELIVERING THE MERCHANDISE YOU INTEND TO GIVE IN RETURN FOR THE MONEY.
An affirmation which can be used with your visualization could be as follows:
I believe that I will have this money in my possession. My Faith is so strong that I can now see this money before my eyes. I can touch it with my hands. It is now awaiting transfer to me at the time and in the proportion that I deliver the service I intend to render in return for it. I am awaiting a plan by which to accumulate this money, and I will follow that plan when it is received.
We may become the master of ourselves, and of our environment, because we have the POWER TO INFLUENCE OUR OWN SUBCONSCIOUS MIND, and through it to gain the cooperation of Infinite Intelligence.
The actual performance of transmuting DESIRE into money involves the use of autosuggestion as an agency by which you may reach and influence the subconscious mind.
While beginning to explore your deep garden of mind remember to be patient and persistent. It is easy to become discouraged if you cannot control and direct these deep seated emotions the first few times you try. For most it takes great persistence over time to access all the thoughts, feelings and emotions of a destructive nature that must be pulled and weeded-out of the subconscious mind. Trust in the process. Better yet do this work with a coach who will believe in you when your own belief in yourself may have you feeling more underwater than above it.

I continue to be impressed with this resource the more I test it out. Sitting at the computer is a perfect time to implement AUTOSUGGESTION and access the rich garden of our subconscious mind.

Straight out of High School being the adventurer that I am I entered the United States Naval Reserve; little did I know the real-adventure it would be. About 7.5 years complete with my 8 year enlistment is when the US first began war with Iraq. I remember watching on CNN my country bombing Bagdad…I then had to answer for myself the question, “What is FAITH for?” While I love my country, I would not have followed orders to be stationed on a ship in the gulf engaged in such a war. The event crystallized my beliefs. My conscience then became a test of my FAITH as I began Conscientious Objector Pleadings with the United States Navy during wartime. It was a scary thing for me because I really had no idea what would happen next. As it turns out after months of building my legal case, the Navy eventually honorably discharged me. Whatever FAITH is, I knew I had more of it after going through this experience. Peace was my Purpose then, and it continues to be now.

Napoleon Hill identified FAITH as number 2 of 13 steps in his book Think and Grow Rich. He spoke of FAITH as being Visualization and Belief in the Attainment of DESIRE (Step 1 Desire HERE). In his view FAITH is one of the three most powerful of all the major positive emotions, next to LOVE and SEX! He says Love is closely akin to the state of mind known as FAITH because Love comes very near to translating one’s thought impulses into their spiritual equivalent.
The Law of Autosuggestion, Napoleon Hill proposes will lift you up or pull you down, according to the way you set your sails of THOUGHT. It is well described in the following verse:

Some of the following is what I have learned in my own application of all 13 Think and Grow Rich steps:
Repetition or affirmation of orders to my subconscious mind is the only method of voluntary development of the emotion of FAITH.
Gandhi accomplished through the influence of FAITH what the strongest military powers on earth could not then and will never accomplish. The victory of his FAITH was in influencing two hundred million minds to move in unison as a single mind. What other force on earth except FAITH could do as much?
The object of this IMezine is to help all who seek it to learn the art of changing their minds from FAILURE CONSCIOUSNESS TO SUCCESS CONSCIOUSNESS, to Remember and Experience how You Are the Master of Your Fate and the Captain of Your Soul.

…there was a man who celebrated his 40th birthday, alone. Still single, never married and not yet with any children, he wished most of all to be united with his “Beloved.” Having followed many spiritual paths he knew he wasn’t alone, but he was lonely and had a Burning Desire to be with the woman of his dreams. At that time a Birth-Day PURPOSE and Dream for him “Takes off!”
Today, 3 years later, sharing my personal story has its own Purpose:
To Build a Relationship with You that Expands Our Horizons.
Hereby my INTENTION becomes the Power to manifest a Chosen DESIRE. This “Power” connects each of us with our Chosen Purpose, and I say, Purpose is Everything.
What is Your Purpose in Reading This?
Ever notice how we each find what we are looking for?
I know of no better “laboratory” to experience DESIRE than when we are in Love, and even more so when such a love chooses to expand horizons in marriage. Partners are constantly filling each other with a stream of DESIRES, needs and opinions. I believe we connect to our Soul through such deeply felt DESIRES as that found in a love relationship.

You see for much of my life I felt like a Failure, in Love and Business. Now that’s not to say I never experienced success, I did but I experienced success as something done “to me” rather than “by me” like I was “just lucky” every once and a while. My whole life I have longed to be “Master of my Fate and Captain of my Soul,” not at the effect of Fate but the author of it! Now, after 43 years of “feeling at the effect,” I am the “cause” of all that I experience. We each have absolute control over but one thing, that being our Thoughts.
As Napoleon Hill details in ‘Think and Grow Rich,’ “Success comes to those who become SUCCESS-CONSCIOUS. Failure comes to those who indifferently allow themselves to become FAILURE-CONSCIOUS. If you are seeking to remember the art of changing your mind from FAILURE-CONSCIOUSNESS to SUCCESS-CONSCIOUSNESS you are in the right place at the right time.
I Believe it is My Responsibility to Make Sure that Positive Emotions Constitute the Dominating Influence of My MIND. Learned from the “school of hard knocks” I know how just one single powerful negative thought, feeling, or emotion in the conscious mind destroys all chance of constructive aid from my subconscious mind (Step 3 Autosuggestion details the medium for influencing the Subconscious Mind, find it HERE).
DESIRE is the starting point of All Achievement. Want something quicker try kindling a “Burning Desire!”

Marrying my “Viking Wife” and relocating to Norway continues to teach me a lot ! (I’ll share some of the details as this story continues over the next few weeks and we take all 13 steps together) LOL! At the time of this writing I have Survived Two Dark Norway Winters. The 2nd winter deeply tested our Burning Desire to Succeed in Our Marriage! Napoleon Hill describes it well when he say’s “cutting all sources of retreat maintains a State of Mind essential to success.” One year into our marriage the honeymoon was long over, if I would have found a way out…well, let’s just say I wouldn’t be writing this now as a happily married man!
The object of this IMezine is to help all who seek it to learn the art of changing their minds from FAILURE CONSCIOUSNESS TO SUCCESS CONSCIOUSNESS, to Remember and Experience how You Are the “Master of Your Fate and the Captain of Your Soul.”
When poet William Ernest Henley wrote those prophetic lines he didn’t detail “Why this is so.” It took Napoleon Hill to help me remember I am the Master of my Fate, I am the Captain of my Soul…because I have The Power to Control my Thoughts. We all do. Yet it calls for more willpower than the average person cares to use for this purpose.
The same applies to Riches, before we can accumulate riches in great abundance, we must magnetize our minds with intense DESIRE for riches, we must become money conscious until the DESIRE for money drives us to create DEFINITE PLANS for acquiring it (Step 6 “Organized Planning,” will detail the Crystallization of Desire into Action. All achievement, no matter what may be its nature or its purpose, must begin with an intense, BURNING DESIRE for something definite.
Nothing is impossible to the person who backs DESIRE with enduring FAITH (Step 2 is “FAITH” can be found HERE).
I believe in the application of DESIRE backed by FAITH because I have seen it lift people from lowly beginnings to places of power and wealth (see interviews I have conducted at: http://TimothyBertOwen.com/interviews ). My own firsthand experience has also proven to me how individuals staged a comeback after having been defeated in countless ways. Surely you have experienced in yourself and/or in another the Power of DESIRE when it assumes the proportion of an Obsession!

Compare these results to how you rated yourself initially and take note of any differences. It may reveal more of “your own chosen purpose” in reading this, remember Purpose is Everything for it causes us to find what we seek.
If while reading this first of 13 steps you were lifted to a higher level of mental stimulation, splendid! Read it once more, and observe that your mind will soar to ever higher levels of stimulation. Repeat this from time to time and eventually…

How Tim got started…
I’m successful, working a job 16+ hours a day and getting home about once a month.I’m learning that what I do is not just a job it’s more accurately called “a lifestyle”. And having no real-life of my own other than work is wearing me thin.
